For cinnamon sugar donuts

  • For best results, top with cinnamon sugar while still warm.
  • Mix together the sugar and cinnamon on a plate or shallow bowl.
  • Melt butter (either in the microwave or in the Thermomix for 2 minutes / 60 degrees / speed 2).
  • Use a brush to lightly brush each donut and then dip into the sugar mixture. Continue to press and roll until fully coated.

For glazed donuts

  • For best results, allow to cool completely before adding frosting.
  • Add icing sugar to Thermomix bowl. Whizz for 10 seconds / speed 9 to remove any lumps.
  • Add milk, vanilla and food colouring (if using) and mix for 10 seconds / speed 3.
  • Scrape down the sides and repeat. If the frosting seems too runny, add a spoonful of icing sugar; if it seems too thick, add a drop of milk.
  • Either transfer to a shallow bowl and dip the donuts in, or use a spoon to pour the icing over the top of the donuts. Sprinkle over sprinkles before the frosting sets.
